For many years we have been playing as the Pioneers Bush Band at the historic Mundaring Weir Hotel in the hills near Perth WA. Often we finish the afternoon at the Weir with a few jazzy songs including jazz standards. We have always bent a lot of our music towards jazz and feature improvised solos on most songs.
We are still offering our repertoire of Australian folk and country music together with my original songs but in addition to that we are now offering a whole Jazz repertoire of songs mainly from the American Song Book. Liz has come up with the name for this band and it is Addadabbablue. Peter Harper is our bassist for this repertoire and people are really enjoying the sound of his double bass with my guitar and Liz on vocals. I sometimes use a looper to record my rythmn guitar while Liz is singing to provide a second guitar part for when I improvise on the verse and/or chorus.
Here are some recently recorded examples of our repertoire. They were recorded live in my studio with no overdubs. What you hear is what we sound like live.
